Classroom Tour

Classroom Tour

I am so excited to post the pictures of my new classroom! One of my favorite parts of teaching is getting my class ready for the year ahead. After some l-o-n-g days at school, this is how it turned out. I am so pleased and I can't wait for my first graders to see their new home for the next school year.

My Calendar Area
I used one of my old book cases, and I upgraded it with a little polka dot fabric. The "FIRST GRADE" cans are actually formula cans from my "little love bug" Andi Kate. (I just knew if I saved them, I could do something fun with them!) The first shelve holds a old frame I painted lizard green and put a sheet of hot pink paper in. I will use this as a white board to put the date on each day. The two white board stands are from hobby lobby, I gave them a upgrade with a little paint, ribbons, and bows. I will used these to write the number of the day, and the pattern of the day.

This is my desk area, I had to make a little piece of the room mine with some fun flowers and a little caddy with my name on both sides of it. I find it so much easier to work when everything is organized. (I may also have an addiction to containers of any kind, but that's everyone... right???)

Here is where the magic happens... haha! This is my round table where I will meet with my small groups. Did I mention I am also OBSESSED with chevron! (Ladies I know I am not alone on that one.) I made the letters on my table with my silhouette cameo and some vinyl. I make tons of stuff with that handy little machine:)

This is my number line and word wall.

PENCILS! Boy do first graders go through pencils fast!

These are my color circles, they are double sided and hang from the ceiling. I used fishing line and binder clips to hang them. They are one of my favorite new additions to my room.

Each kiddo has a numbered binder clip to show how they go home for my transportation chart.

(The rocking horse is the name of our daycare if you are wondering what that one stands for.)

Writing is my favorite thing to teach, and I wanted to give my kiddos a great space to write during daily five. The posters in the back are from a blog but I got them so long ago I can't remember from where. So sorry, I would love to give credit. The alligator is just some blown up clip. Each side has a chevron file folder holder, I think I will let kids put their book bags for daily five in these, but I am not sure yet.

Brag Buttons, I can't wait to pin these on my new friends this year!

                   Math Station Rotations

These are just some more cute organizational tools. I try to use all wasted space to organize the many items in my room. Plus it never hurts to put your name on it right?

Here is my door and student computer area. In this picture you can also see my tiny behavior chart above my pencil sharpener. I use a clipboard so I can carry it with me to the carpet, or around school during the day.

I made my alphabet with my... you guessed it, my silhouette cameo. Did I mention how much I love that thing! I used chevron pink and green paper with a black background. I laminated them because all teachers know that EVERYTHING needs to be laminated. Lamination always puts a smile on my face. Oh the little thrills in life!

Last but not least, my big empty wall will be used for all my anchor charts I make throughout the year. I imagine my daily five posters will take up most of the space. The best part of this is my Pinterest inspired awning. It is just too cute for words. I used wrapping paper, fishing line, a ruler, borders, and a tri-fold board. Lets just say its a long story, and I hope it stays up there.

I hope you enjoyed the tour! All it takes is a little time and effort to be... "In a CLASS of your own"! :)
